April Flowers bring May… Blizzards?

Sometimes, the weather on the prairies is enough to make me wonder why anyone chooses to live here.

Take the snowstorm we got on Wednesday, May 4th. People in other, less insane climates are getting their Cinco de Mayo decorations up, hanging out on the beach, or already tending their burgeoning gardens.

What was I doing? I was scraping three inches of frozen snow off of the windshield of my car. Now, just days before, I’d been hanging around outside in a skirt and tank top, pondering putting some flowers out on my patio. Sure glad now that I decided NOT to head to the garden store after all!!

Oh, Edmonton. I love your gorgeous riverbank and your summer festivals, but the moment Layne’s done his degree, we’re frickin’ heading to the coast. I’m sick of snow.

    Heh. You’re telling me!

We moved (for work) from Winnipeg to Kamloops in the fall. Weather-wise, we haven’t regretted it one bit.

(Careful if you’re thinking Vancouver, though. Average house cost is hitting around $1million there right now, with “starter condos” at over $400k. Things are much more reasonable in the BC interior.)

I know I’m really weird, I like that we can get snow in May. Now if only summer didn’t get so hot (I’m serious).

It wasn’t just snow, but rain! Being cold, covered in wet snow with soaked shoes is not a fun time! I want to move back to Ontario…

Id have to think West coast, the snow on the East is as bad as she currently gets, probably worse.

Over here in NJ isn’t any better. *Shudders* I knew there would be snow somewhere around my birthday. What we need is a hard and heavy thunderstorm. Bring in the heat and kick the cold’s butt out of here.

Hooray West Coast! I want to move to Vancouver so badly because of both the Standard Climate AND the Social Climate. I’ve had enough with conservatism.

…Hasn’t happened this year, but about four years ago I woke up on May 15th to a foot of snow. The tulips looked cold sticking up through that…
